Lake Washington Views from Laurelcrest Lane

Originally built in 2011 with traditional style and finishes, we embarked on renovating this home to better reflect its stunning waterfront location and our clients’ personal style. With expansive views of Lake Washington, our vision was to create a true lakefront retreat—one that would provide an indoor/outdoor experience.

Lake Washington views from the Laurelcrest Dining Room

Every detail of the home was redesigned to create a fresh, open and welcoming feel. We combined classic finishes with modern concepts and furnished the space with family-friendly textiles and natural fiber rugs. To complement the waterfront setting, we commissioned local artists to create custom pieces inspired by the water.

Entry & Living Room

We transformed the entryway from traditional to modern by introducing clean, crisp lines, a new storage closet, and custom built-in cabinetry for organization. Instead of French doors, we chose a single main door flanked by window panels to enhance openness and natural light.

In the living room just off the entry, our design emphasizes symmetry, natural materials, and a light, airy color palette, laying the foundation for the home's overall aesthetic.

Dining Room

The original dining room was enclosed and lacked a clear view of Lake Washington. To create a more open and inviting space, we redesigned the layout to improve flow throughout the home and better connect the indoor aesthetic to the stunning lake views.

Open Floor Plan

By removing the partition wall, we opened the space to the adjoining living room to create an open floor plan.

Indoor/Outdoor Experience

We replaced the previous doors and windows with one large retracting door, offering our clients an effortless transition between indoor and outdoor living.

Wallpapered Ceiling

While we aimed to create a cohesive feel with the surrounding rooms, we wallpapered the box beam ceiling to define the dining room within the open floor plan.

Modern & Earthy Furnishings

To bring our clean and organic aesthetic to life, we incorporated natural materials—a sisal rug, wood dining table and chairs by Redford House Furniture, and a sleek modern light fixture by Visual Comfort—to create a refined, modern dining room.

Kitchen

The original kitchen had a traditional design, with dark wood cabinetry and neutral countertops that felt out of place in a home meant to be light and airy. Our goal was to create a kitchen that seamlessly flowed into the living and dining areas—one that felt crisp, clean, and modern.

Kitchen before and during TSD renovations

We designed shaker-style cabinetry to give the kitchen a clean and timeless look. To maximize storage and counter space, we replaced the existing kitchen window with wall cabinets and custom-built a large island—creating a welcoming space where guests can gather, sit, and socialize.

Shaker Cabinets + Black Matte Hardware

We collaborated with a local construction team to design custom-framed inset, shaker-style cabinets, painted in White Dove by Benjamin Moore—a classic yet modern combination for a sleek and sophisticated look.

Custom Island

Designed to seat 4-5 guests so our clients can socialize while in the kitchen, this island features beautiful Calacatta marble countertops and Graytint paint by Benjamin Moore.

Backsplash & Paint

Honed marble subway tile in a 3” x 9” format complements the surrounding white shaker cabinetry.

Décor Details

A wool rug runner adds both a functional and decorative element to the space, while unlacquered brass and glass pendant lights by Visual Comfort provide a refined finishing touch.

Living Room

Just off the kitchen, the second living room offers a cozy yet open retreat for the family to gather. To maximize storage and functionality in the space we included built-in cabinets below the windows. Roman shades paired with sheer custom curtains add softness and versatility, with the capability to control privacy and natural light. Throughout the space, natural materials like wicker and linen create a warm, inviting atmosphere, while lush greenery brings the outdoors in, reinforcing the indoor-outdoor connection at the heart of our design.

Stairway

The home's original design featured a doorway leading to an enclosed staircase tucked between the dining room and kitchen. We removed this structure to introduce a formal staircase opening, creating a seamless transition between the downstairs and upstairs spaces. A multi-tier chandelier with linen shades, positioned between custom art pieces at the top and bottom of the stairs, subtly ties the design together. For visual interest, we incorporated wall paneling that echoes the geometric lines found throughout the home, transforming an otherwise overlooked area into a cohesive design feature.

Primary Bed & Bath

Clean & Crisp Themes

Soft hues of white, grey and blue, combined with clean lines and crisp linens, create a serene and refreshing atmosphere.

Wallpapered Accent Wall

To bring dimension and depth to this light and airy room, we accented the main wall with a subtly patterned, yet elegant, wall paper.

Hard Finishes

We selected a Carrara marble to wainscot the primary bathroom walls and a complementary small-scale tile by Statements Tile & Stone for the floor. To complete the look, we chose sleek and stylish polished nickel knobs.

Dramatic Lighting

Our goal was to make the primary en suite feel like its own elevated, special space. In both the primary bedroom and bathroom, we incorporated dramatic chandeliers to enhance ambience.

Freestanding Tub

Replacing the built-in tub with a freestanding model opened up the space and created a unique focal point.

Bonus Room

In addition to the renovation, we added a bonus room with black vaulted ceilings to create a cozy upstairs retreat. Multiple zones within the space provide areas for the family to engage in different activities and hobbies or come together for game nights. One of our favorite features is the custom sectional by Lee Industries, perfect for hosting large gatherings or family movie nights.
